i realized that this was a great function roland arrangers used to offer. even though i played only once such a keyboard (i only remember was looong time ago, i cant remember the model, except that was a roland) i think i could find a good use to it!
so, what do you think, would it be something useful for arranger players, or is something obsolete and not interesting anymore?
i thought this was a pretty innovative and helpful function for a live player...

Hello,

The Roland VA series has the morphing feature. The feature is on the touch screen which allows to pick and morph different parts, including totally changing to a new style, with countless choices.

As far as usefullness, I think it's a great addition to that already powerful board.

As far as I know the same feature is on the G70 and the new E80. It works well.

well, i didn t find any mention of that in g70 or e60 manual, but i might have passed it by mistake.
anyway, i had the impression that this morphing function not only let you combine different parts of different styles into a new one, but gives you intermediate stages between two parts of a style...
something like not only A part, or B part for a new style, but rather A ----->B several possible combination.

maybe i am criptic, or at least my english does not help me enough.

still, i am not sure there is morphing on g70 or e60/80.

I confirm the Style Morphing feature got dropped after the VA-series. Just one more in a long line of useful features Roland decided (with no user input!) to drop.

Thanks a lot, Roland........

Yes, you are correct. There are 3 basic parts of the band. This is found in the orchestrator section, along with the morphing section. Again, countless variations.

i wonder, wouldn't roland put back this function? i assume is all about software, right? they could release an upgraded OS for g70 or e60/80 with this feature...
i really liked the idea of combining styles beyond recognition - original stuff!
oh well, we still could live with roland arrangers, as long as some improuvements for OS will be released. (like guitar mode for one).
btw, is there a OS3 for g70 comming?

The Roland morphing didn't impress me that much although in theory its a good idea....I prefer Ketrons SD-1's approach
http://www.ketronus.com/sd1.html

which worked better for my needs at the time & still today wish It was included in every arranger KB on the market.....
Bass Lock, Drum Lock, Manual Bass, Jump, Arrange Lock.
These powerful real time controls will let you combinate styles in so many ways to accommodate your songs on the fly...Yamaha should take a lesson from them on adding these features, plus allowing Registration setups save & transpose to the MFD which would put them in another Stratosphere!!.
