Larry,

Thanks for the MidiCVT link. We learn new stuff every day!

However, these are the steps to running the KarCrusher program.

1. First make sure you are running Windows XP.
2. Extract the zip file into a new folder say D:\Kar
3. You will get the executable KarCrusher.jar plus a bunch of Java Class files *.class
4. Open up a command window - | Start | Run | cmd
5. Change directory to D:\Kar
6. Run this command

D:\Kar> java –jar KarCrusher.jar

This will open up the KarCrusher program window.

| File | Open - select the Kar file you wish to convert

You will get a lyrics displayed as text. Here you are free to modify the text.
| File | Save As…|

The program lets you save the Kar file to a Type 0 MIDI file with a .mid extension.

Use the Midi CVT program http://www.mrfreefree.com/free_software/free_karaoke_software.html

Load .kar file on left
Convert and save to type 0 midi file on right.

Now the lyrics will display on your keyboard.

Uh oh....I mentioned midi...sorry Dave!

Not to state the obvious, but did you right click on the file and click on "Save File As.." ?
