The Major difference seems to be the extra polyphony and sampling capability. Although the PA800 has more sounds it would appear that none of the extra sounds except the piano are worth upgrading for or they would have made a bigger song and dance about them in the demos like Tyro2 does with its SA voices. It seems the only reason the PA1X might be considered to be still the flagship arranger is down to the fact that the optional extras, such as the MP3 player and CD plus plugin boards are not apparently available on the PA800 however the stock standard PA1X in terms of Spec would appear to be marginally inferior to the Stock PA800. Thats not to say that 120 notes polyphony and double sampling capability are minor improvements but hardly enough to encourage an existing PA1X owner to move across (rather than up ) to the PA800 but it certainly differentiates the PA800 from the competition in this price class.

I still expect korg to unveil something special maybe next year concerning the PA1X "true" successor.

The PA1X internal speakers and the vocal harmoniser are better than the PA800 but thats about it. Essentially they are the same board hence the mistakes in the manual that refer to the PA1X in places when clearly it should say PA800
