Hi Carol.

Maybe it's only the volumes in soundcards mixer who have to be
adjusted a bit?
If you see a "speaker" in your system try, open it by doubble click,
and you'll see a "mixer" where you can adjust several "sliders".
(How this appear is depending of which software who runs on your PC)

In the menu of the "mixer", look for a option for advanced settings.
Now you will see "boxes" to mark if there is more options to choose.
Now look at the sliders, and see if there is any for "Digital sound"
or/and "Synth" (or similiar), and move that sliders upward to see if
the volume get louder.
Here you'll also see a slider for "line in", and if that is too low,
the insignal will be low when you're recording too, and then again too
low when playback the song.
