I found that mode quite tricky to play pianistically well without constantly having to think whether new notes would freak out the chord recognition. Roland’s ‘three with sustain pedal up, five with it down’ has really freed me to play without paying much attention to the notes I am playing… (you know what I mean! 😂)

This chord system didn’t appear until the BK series, and afaik, no one else has picked up on it yet, but I’m not familiar with most of the arranger/piano type keyboards (Clavinova’s, Havian’s, PF-E50’s etc.).

The chord recognition on Korg XE 20 is nothing to write home about. I have been playing it mostly with auto bass/drums with the other parts cut off. It works in full piano mode but I really have play quite simple chords. No rootless voicings and no rhythmic anticipations or delays. Definitely no montunonos or other arpeggiated patterns ! I wish it had a chord sequencer like the old Havian. I wonder why they cut that feature?
