Well, if the whole thing is software based, it wouldn’t take much of an update to set a couple of buttons to a macro to have it record and play back a scene.

The feature being able to be used live, interactively to record and play loops is a core ability of every chord sequencer to grace an arranger since the beginning. Roland, Korg, Yamaha and I think Technics all had buttons to instantly record and play back the loop.

To be quite honest, a chord sequencer that you HAD to set up in advance and couldn’t use live would be a major hard pass for most people accustomed to the feature for the last 30 years.

I sincerely hope your design team can see this as a major loss of functionality and design a simple live CS to add with an update.
