I’m pretty sure 15 years after I got my first G70 I still haven’t forgotten about the price!
Roland moved distribution from the MI division (synths, workstations etc.) sold in regular well discounted music stores to the CK division, which was home digital pianos sold in Mom and Pop piano stores that didn’t traditionally discount very much at all.
I think my G70 cost me well over $1200 more than I paid for my G1000..!
Cost is ALWAYS a factor... particularly for something that is usually an addendum to a rig rather than a primary instrument. The BK7-m hit a rather sweet spot where you could consider it as a secondary arranger. Particularly as it was fairly well discounted during production. You got pretty much an E80 for little over a grand (street price on an E80 was above $3500!)... 💵💵💵💵
