If you learn to play organ, inversions is what you learn from the off, (As you progress you also start doing it with the right hand as well) bass is no problem as you play it with your feet, so you are not stuck with root notes. (This is why you seldom see organ players left hands jumping all over the place as they control it, rather than having to adapt to what the auto backing allows)
