You won't get great quality sound by using the phone's mic, but it will be pretty good if used at close range.
I use an "antique" Kodak video recorder that has a line-in for audio when I want to do a video.
For audio only, the kb recorder should do fine. Then transfer it to computer and use something like Audacity (which is free) to "normalize the volume" and export to MP3 file.
Then you can play that file on just about anything, including the phone, the computer or the kb.
