I have the same problem with my Gator 76. The zipper is starting to pull out at one corner,not splitting apart though. I suspect the repeated stress of putting it on end to carry it. I have had it for years and can't complain. The fold over padded straps are very good protection.
I have the zipper problem on my gator 76 case also there should be a way to fix zippers on these things or maybe design with out a zipper with latch downs like a flight case?
