If you are using the Panasonic Recorder, try a different Recording program - Audacity (Free Download :
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ ) or Goldwave (Free to try :
www.goldwave.com )
It would also be worth checking that DMA is enabled in your hard disk controller - it normally is if you are using WIN200/XP - and that no other programs are running, during the recording process.
