Looks like Yamaha is taking a lesson from KORG Pa4x with OS updates vs releasing new models,..this must be the new selling strategy with LONG periods in between models for the future to substantiate the initial high money cost layout which makes sense.

Well they didn't mind selling Tyros for 5K plus without major updates. I think your first point is closer to the truth. They have seen the great updates that Korg does and are wisely trying to compete.
Always better to be a Leader NOT a follower... Interesting to see what they do with the lesser MOTL series units at this point too.
