Not surprising they all have to get rid of old parts somehow... put a little lipstick on it and resell as the latest and greatest.
BTW, I hate lipstick and makeup in general, they could never arouse my interest with changes in the facade without any substance. Samples are substance to me with synthesizers. But obviously some are crazy about colours, so they are releasing these toy Kross models as well... (scroll down Korg website)
