First impressions of the Ketron SD7
I will be making some comparisons to a few Roland products I owned..
The G70, BK9 and Integra7.
I had to get use to the Ketron OS.. My last was a SD1 and before that a X1.
Sounds seem identical to the SD1000 module (I own), with the addition of RAM voices.
The strenght of the SD7 is the ability to add to styles quickly and in real time.
Modeling allows you to not only edit the tones of a style, but you can add a groove (audio )
to variation3, and change any style part with another..
And another feature add arpeggios to any style part..These feature replace any need for pads.
You have the option to save edited style and SMF's immediately..
Also the ability to add drum restyle to SMF's. this allows you to use the style controls ;
like variations fills, intros and endings. in place of the sequenced midi drum of the SMF.
Work flow wise, the SD7 is not up to par with the G70 or even the BK9. Roland's make up tools
just can't be beat.
Work flow is about the same as working with Integra7.
Trying to work with the Integra7, the SD7 has too many usb/midi direction changes.. and glitches
to much. The Roland G70 and BK9 work flawlessly with Integra7..
This is an early report.. I will follow uo after afew more days.. maybe I can resolve some issues.
The keybed feels great , reminds me of the Korg Fatar bed on the PA1x.
More later..
