Sorry I'm late in replying.

I have the PR900 and PR804 but not the PR703. I don't know why Technics doesn't publish the reference manual, hope you found one. About your choice, if the PR703 is in great working condition and the price was reasonable then you made a good choice.

About compatibility on other models, I'm not sure but I think the PR703 is compatible with KN6000 and/or KN6500 file formats. You will have to find some and try it. The PR703 can load PR700/900 and PR702/902 file formats. I don't think the PR703 will load KN7000 file formats, but you can try. If you don't mind purchasing some, Technote has a very good collection for the PR703 series.

My PR804 isn't compatible with the PR900, but it is with the PR703. If you don't mind, I have a few PR900 recordings that I can send you and maybe you can convert these over to PR703 (it's very simple), then I can convert that to PR804. I can also send you some PR900 collections I have that can start you out. Let me know.
