I saw the XL and an updated version of the SS3 at NAMM last year. The XL is a monster, but I'd say the SS3 with a bass amp or a sub would be more than enough for a crowd of 50 to 150. Still, I would prefer a 2.1 system. Easier to carry/set up with no need for a mixer.

Years ago, I frequented this site because forum members were talking about the famous Z2300. Basically, it is a 2.1 system though not exactly for live performance, but many musicians were using the system or some replaced the satellites with better ones. Maui and other line-array systems are all good in their own ways, but I ain't carrying two of them for stereo. Just the fact two powered amps have to be plugged into AC turns me off. When I take a single amp, the Roland BA330 running on battery seems to work very well for me, but that's when I play my Roland digital accordion by itself. If I were driving an arranger, I'd definitely take a 2.1 system.
