Just when I thought I had left hand patterns pretty well licked!

This reminds me of an interview they did with a famous blues piano player. He said the more he studied the blues, the more he realized there's tons more left hand accompaniment than the standard C-E-G-A-Bb-(going down)A-G-E-C. It took me a while to realize a left hand pattern doesn't have to start on the root note. Often it starts on the 5th and sounds just as effective, if not more.
