Great song. Micky Newbury wrote it and Kenny Rogers sang the lead with the First Edition. I think after that he decided to "go country". Interesting that Glen Campbell did the distorted guitar lead on it!
Kenny recorded a different version, more country, later on as I recall.
Maybe I'll resurrect this one; I used to do it back when it was popular, in another century. Still a good song though.
