Ron, many years ago when I was playing at Dela Note' in Baltimore's little Italy, I had to set up on a tiny piano bar stage in front of a full size, Steinway Grand. I placed my keyboard stand in such a way that it was just above the piano keybed, thus out of sight, out of mind. Worked for me. Of course, I didn't play the piano, and I rarely brought in my 12-string and played to backing tracks.

I actually got fired from that job because I was too entertaining and kept the patrons in the lounge area, eating free snack food and drinking $2 draft beers. The lounge area was intended to just be a waiting area until they could get a seat in the restaurant where the prices were outrageously high.

All the best,

Gary cool
