On ebay you can find ebay stores where you can buy the sd cards much cheaper than in normal stores.
I bought one sd card 128Mb for 63 dollar, 256mb costs 138 dollar.
It is very reliable...I never had problem and I live in Europe, Belgium.

Even if the card is used you can format the card and use the card over and over.
