Hi Larry,
you can help your friend by telling him:
1. go to (CUSTOMIZE);
2. press (WALLPAPER SETTING)
3. press (OTHER) and choose (DEFAULT)
I guess he had (PRESET) chosen once. No problem to experiment with those possible settings in the WALLPAPER MENU. Nothing can be 'destroyed' . But this is the way to go to the DEFAULT values again.
