Hi Kenneth, Sorry for the delay in replying - I missed out on checking this thread earlier (another Senior Moment )
I don't use the Panasonic Audio Recorder, I record direct into a program called 'Goldwave' via the USB link. I don't know if CoolEdit will accept direct USB input - maybe someone else can answer this. A trial version of Goldwave digital audio editor is available as a free download from Goldwave.com It is the full program but has a few minor restrictions, which can be removed, if you register and pay about $30 - $40. From memory, I too found that post recording, the level had to be increased about 8 - 10db, before saving the file to hard disc and subsequently to CD. However, this did not cause any problems and is a simple operation.
