Had one for a week, didn't do what I wanted it to do, store 'misinformed' me.

It's designed to allow you to route the MIDI signals to various different configurations, for example 1 in can be routed to every MIDI out (basically a MIDI thru box), some inputs offer MIDI merge (data signals are combined), however if you are expecting 1 MIDI it to give you 128 MIDI outs, then sorry no you will only have the 16 channels of the MIDI in copied 8 times.

If you want 128 MIDI channels (8 X 16 MIDI channels) your MIDI interface would have to have 8 separate MIDI outs.

I use a 2 in 4 out interface to a 16 X 16 MIDI patchbay (Function Junction Plus). The patchbay allows editing of the modules as you don't need to unplug anything, just route the MIDI out of the module to the MIDI in of the computer via a patch in the patchbay.
