Streaming live isn't that hard, you just have to make sure that the option for live streaming is enabled on YouTube.
You can find whether the Live Stream option is enabled or not on this page (Channel Options > Functions):
Than you need the right devices for streaming live, I use my Mac combined with a capture device (Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle with Thunderbolt). The capture device is receiving a HDMI video signal from my DSLR camera and audio from the Tyros (analog L/R). The livestream is being processed by Adobe Live Encoder, YouTube supports several software solutions.
