I wasn't that much aware of him and all he accomplished until he was shot. I used to live in a bubble I guess, but I never was really exposed to racism situations in my younger days. There were no black people in our town, just lots of Native American type "Indians". We all got along fine, though most were very poor back then. Weren't many rich folks in our town either!
