During a break I had the opportunity to speak with the bass player ... during the conversation he told me:
1) they don't use a 'strict' playlist ...
2)they had a CD coming out and had rehearsed all the tunes for a month and Monty hadn't played one of them yet ...
3) they just listen to his intro and try to figure out what song he is going to play even though the intro to an 'up' tune might be played with no tempo ...
4) sometimes the intro is in a different key !!!

BUT - he LOVED every minute of it ...

What TALENT !!!


Absolutely, Many could practice hours and hours each day but if you don't have that inborn talent, you're just not gonna play like Monty does.

Tony, I haven't been there in a few years, but Chan's is a great spot. Once heard Makoto Ozone play there, wow did he have the audience on their feet.
