The S950 strikes me as a very small incremental change up from the S910, TBH. The way Yamaha seem to miserly dole out improvements, I think unless GAS rules you, every OTHER S series Yamaha seems a better time to change. Or longer!
Personally, I tend to hear and see a radical improvement every ten years or so. Within that window, unless there is a total breakthrough and radical departure from previous design, you are getting baby steps. A few sounds, a few more styles (that will be probably backwards converted for the older arranger after a bit of time passes), a few minor OS improvements... Is that honestly worth ditching an arranger you are, by now, probably intimately familiar with and have painstakingly adjusted to sound JUST the way you like?
For me, the answer is a resounding NO!
TBH, if it weren't for the Chord Sequencer, I might not have made the move to the BK-9. Yes, it's got a bunch of sounds I don't have in the G70, a bunch of new styles, some seriously better OS features, SuperNatural sounds, yada, yada, yada. But it still isn't quite the 'night and day' difference I want to hear. But that CS is a game changer, when you know how to use it. I sincerely hope that Yamaha climb on board for you, Ian... Even if they added ONLY that, you would find it such a game changer it might be worth ditching the T4 for.
Mind you, I haven't ditched the G70. The BK-9 is only for solo and duo use. Roland's penny pinching decision to release the BK-9 with the horrendous double LCD screen has prevented the BK-9 from replacing my G70 as my go to live band keyboard.
Idiots!
