Thank you all. I have to admit that I am a little taken back with the technicians inability to locate the problem, given that his business is long established, been the recognised service agent for Technics ( amongst all the other brands) for the whole of south east Queensland Australia for years. I have purchased a service manual and have asked one of my Son's who is a computer IT engineer to try and identify the problem for me. I also see that in the Old Country there is a Mike Barden that specialises in repairing Technics, so I guess that is another string to my bow, even though I am downunder. I will pass on Bert's comments to my son also. thank you ever so much all of you for responding, given my age, and the fact that I am now somewhat incapacitated, my keyboard has become more of my life so to speak. regards Jim
