THINK I am following the directions correctly, the pic is on my PC, the jpg file is FAR less than 6MB, but i keep getting the message that it is greater than 6 MB ...

Instead of 'File Manager', Switch To Full Reply Screen and use the 'Photo Button' (As shown below fig.1 )

You will then be asked for the image url
Paste the image url in the script prompt to embed the photo in a thread (as shown in fig.2)
