Having watched Don perform I can assure you that both hands are constantly moving. Don's left hand never remains on the keys long enough than to change chords, then quickly heads for the pitch bend wheel, variation buttons, etc... His right hand is among the best I've seen, and his mastery of right-hand instrumentation is beyond comprehension.
I can relate to his arthritis problem, though. I have it in all of my joints due to Lyme Disease. While exercise helps alleviate arthritic pain to some minor degree by strengthening the surround muscle mass, the same function also continues to erode highly inflamed joints. As I've stated many times in the past "Gettin' old ain't fer' whimps and sissies."
