Late 80's when I was about 20 years old, I called a Scottish man "English", as in "...and what do you as an Englishman, think of XXX"
This was before Braveheart and I don't think that many 20 year olds in Greece were aware that England, Scotland and Wales are "different" things... You live in "England" (the island) you are "English", that was the extent of our knowledge.
I still remember the horror and anger on his face. "I AM SCOTTISH, NOT ENGLISH"... in which in my naivete I replied "Errrr, isn't it the same thing?"...BOOM!!!
