All I can say is the recent blown off roof situation with Southwest Air and now this, It certainly does'nt help my already increased anxiety about flying. Parts and metal fatigue of an aging 737 fleet, plus inspection oversights and a cost cutting repair schedule means the chance of these tyoe of incidents happening again will certainly increase over time. Add that to the fear of onboard terrorist attack. Pretty ominous considering the fact if something goes wrong miles up in the air, you can't simply pull over. When I was a kid, I really relished flying. Not so anymore. Anybody else? confused1

Ditto Scott about flying years ago, but not anymore.

I disliked flying enough that in 2004 we drove to Florida to visit family rather than fly. That won't happen unless we don't have a choice. It took longer to drive from my home to NYC (180 miles) than a direct flight to Tampa or Orlando via Southwest and yes on a 737-700 our airline of choice because of the 2 hour 40 minute frequent direct flights to our destinations in Florida. I know that aircraft has a checkered past and I still don't like flying. But despite the years of sweaty palms and white kunckles I try to minimize the impact by to "turning it over". It's my not my will, if my time has come so be it. Sure I want to live as long a life as possible but if I were to go down in a plane on our next flight I've had a good life. Of course, I may have different thoughts if the plane I'm in is going down crazy

And if a former pilot won't fly I've got to believe there's lots of things slipping by safety inspections.
