I have always loved jazz and always will. It is pure musical magic.

But this was an awesome read and like Russ said contained so many truths. But I think that all these obstacles make great jazz the very special music it is.

The only point I would argue is that about "Smooth Jazz". While I dislike the connotations that come along with that label there are artists that are painted with that brush that I really love .... Lee Ritenour, George Benson, Larry Carlton, David Benoit, Dave Grusin, George Duke, The Rippingtons, Spyra Gyra, Acoustic Alchemy and many more ... they still are truly great jazz players. And of course Steely Dan who blend pop and jazz so awesomely. And don't anyone even try to convince me these artists aren't true jazz musicians.
