This color and screen appearance seemed to work for me so maybe it will be helpful to someone else too:

If you would like to view your screen with a white background and black lettering here are the options that made it possible for me:

At the very bottom of the screen, left side, you will see these options:

"Board Rules" "Mark all Read" "Style Chooser"

Select: "Style Chooser" then select: "ubbthreads_stock"

This will make your screen viewable as: White background with Black lettering.
