Hi,

The main difference will be that the RD-700 is based on an RD expanded-Piano engine while the XV-88 is based on an XV engine.

Roland uses waveform compression to get more samples into their ROM. So, in 16-bit linear equivalent, they provide you with xxMB of samples.
In other words, at a compression of 2:1, a 32MB ROM can hold 64MB of waveforms.
