I have an old Kenmore rather large water softener. Reading the instructions, it looks like they want it to regenerate once every 24 hours. We use 120-140 lbs of salt/mo.

The guy at Lowe's says that WAY too much and that I should be able to place the regeneration into manual mode where it only regenerates when I tell it to.

I am an idiot with this stuff.

Owner manual long gone...

Can anyone comment/help me?
