The 60's & 70's board has more Rhodes and Whurlitzers, and the Pop board has some nice ones too. That "classic" Rhodes sound has always been my favorite, anbd it is due to the effects. You MUST have chorus or tremelo(stereo) or both to get that swirly, funky sound. Phase shifters are great too. The original suitcase Rhodes has a stereo vibrato that was THE sound. You gotta play with the effects to get the sound, cuz the basic samples are all in there. It's just how you apply the effects that make the difference. You must also use a velocity switch to get the hard attack sound - it's different than the soft attack. The Rhodes used to have a gritty, almost distorted attack when you'd SPANK it. Part of it's charm, for sure. There is NOTHING like a REAL Rhodes. It's so fine. I heard a great imitation on a Yamaha Motif the other day, and Triton has always done a great job on EP's too.
