I was trying to use my JV1010 connected to my keyboard to play Performances when I noticed that it kept playing Patches!? I made sure the mode was set to Perform, Bank pointing to User but all I can hear is User Patches and not User Performances.

I also noticed that although I'm in Performance mode I can turn the Value knob up to 128 even though there are only 32 Performances!?

One last thing: I downloaded the JV1010 software update from the Roland website and when I followed the instructions I couldn't get the display to show the word "nid"!?
I talked to a guy at Roland UK and he told me my unit was defective -- I drove 120 miles to the dealer to get a replacement and I got exactly the same behaviour with the new unit.

What am I doing wrong?
