Hi Mikey,

I don't(actually I won't) do outdoor gigs, but I can tell you that the bass needs something to bounce off, so you wouldn't have that issue, even in a large enclosed space.

I use two L1 systems all the time, in stereo, but I'm sure this would apply to only one as well.
