The funny thing is, the Emax II and the Roland AX-7 actually DO speak two different midi languages - the languages even have names - though I don't remember what they're called. The reason why they are different is because the Emax II was created in 1982. Newer midi controllers correspond to a different set of codes. So the only way I can access my samples from the Emax is by arranging my sounds in order and switching them by foot switch.

The AX-7 is a silly "Keytar". It has tons of buttons for switching and a kooky D-Beam, a ribbon controller and a whammy bar thingee. It's a pretty nerdy instrument, but it's good for me.

Anyways, what would you recommend as a module that I can create and store synth sounds in? Something that samples and sequences? A computer program, a rack mounter module? What's out there that you like?
