The XV-88 will function with an external sequencer through MIDI interface or with a computer (PC) through a serial port.

I have used several programs on my PC to record and play back sequences and store system exclusive's while using the XV-88 as my primary controller.

Cakewalk Pro Audio 9.3 is my favorite sequencing software. Mostly because I had to pick something a few years ago when I got into midi and building a DAW,and I chose Cakewalk and now I have grown accustom to the software.

I bought an XV-88 last summer and think it is a fine instrument.
