I, like you have bought a lot of keyboards since 1970 and for me it always comes down to the statement in your quote above. Once that decision is made I am able to buy the "right for me" keyboard. Because I have always bought the "right for me" keyboard, I have never had to take one back and exchange it for something else or get a refund. In fact I still have 11 keyboards here in my studio.
I now have all the tehcnics 5000 styles in the yamaha 9000, so I am as happy as a clam at high tide.
