Another point I want make in support of maximizing the use of the internal styles already in your KB, is that the number of styles available on most current arrangers today, probably far outnumber the style possiblities which any 'one' rhythm section musician you might hire to play your gig could play. A 'live' rhythm section might use the same (or similar grooves) to cover a range of tunes. I primarily only use custom styles to fill in for the weaker styles on a specific arranger board. - Scott
