Welcome to the world of home studios, and the pitfalls. The reason that store-bought CD's work on DVD and older CD players is because they have been "glass-mastered" by companies that mass-produce CD's. If you want to mass-duplicate your CD, there are plenty of companies that can master your CD for you so it will play on DVD and older CD players. In fact, having your CD mass-produced is often the cheapest and easiest route to go. It takes a lot of time, money and materials to mass-produce CD's at home.

Your only alternative is to go ahead and make/sell CDR's and either put something on the labeling that tells people that your CDR will only play on "CDR-compatible" players or you can put a little note inside of each CD that tells people where to return your CDR for a full refund if they are not satisfied with their purchase. CDR's play on most CD players and some DVD players, but usually they have to say "CDR-compatible".
