Time for me to eat some crow. After spending more time comparing the Roland SRX-02 piano with the Steinway B and Bosendorfer for GigaStudio, I ended up giving top marks to the Roland. It does have some problems, particularly in the upper octaves, and the Bose and Steinway are virtually faultless. But when all is said and done, the Roland just seems more "real". I find it easier to suspend disbelief and forget that I'm playing a digital imitation rather than an acoustic piano. I'll be keeping the Roland after all.
