thanks Fran, ScottL and Gary for bucking the
conventional prejudices and myths in favor
of common sense. speakers on the floor in
most cases sound better than on poles, for reasons in addition to the bass...turning
the speaker toward the player and the back wall
solves a lot of problems of both the band
hearing themselves and complaints from patrons
of the music being too loud in their face.
stereo effect in live performance is nothing
but a gimmick effect. originally stereo was developed to make recordings sound more like
live performance. DUH, you ARE performing live, so you don't need stereo to sound "more" live. and you know what else? you don't need more than one speaker unless you need a monitor. If you set up 2 speakers in mono and don't use a monitor you are carrying
one more speaker than you need to, and you have LESS control of the sound when you have 2!!!make life easier for yourself and get better sound: use ONE strong excellent speaker, (and a monitor if u need it--but better to place the speaker in such a way you
don't need the monitor at all)
