I also use the Shure Beta 87. It is a condenser mic, but rugged enough that it has lasted 12 years for me. I also have a Shure Beta Green condenser mic. I think it's the 4.0. It is quite close to the 87 but at about half the price.
My backup and guest mics are Behringer. Very similar to SM58, but only $30 apiece.
They are probably the best music bargain I've ever seen.
