I never use the playlist - instead, I have my midi files in a single folder that stays open so I can view about 80 files at a glance. A simple keystroke of the first letter takes me to the area I need and I use the arrow keys to direct me to the exact file. Push "enter" and it plays.
Dragging is cumbersome for me while I'm doing other stuff. The arrow buttons are a snap!
