For midi my advice is get a midiman midisport 4X4 midi interface, it's a USB connection and works great. They also make a less expensive 2x2.

For analog (wav) I suggest a Delta 44 soundcard or the Delta audiophile. The 44 comes with a 4>4< breakout box. It's a hot setup and what I have on my pc.
