This sounds like someone changed the GLOBAL MIDI Channel from 1 to other channel. The Standard Combis are set to sound on MIDI Channel #1, so they will not sound... My suggestion: Search in GLOBAL mode the setting for the global MIDI Channel and switch it back to 1.
